Abstract Author’s Note: This Appendix provides supplemental analyses in support of the 2011 publication “Surveying the General Public Over the Internet Using Address-based Sampling and Mail Contact Procedures,” by Benjamin L. Messer & Don A. Dillman in Public Opinion Quarterly (2011, 75[3]:429-57). Experiment 1 contained nine treatment groups designed to test the effects of web+mail vs. mail+web designs, providing a $5 token cash incentive, and sending detailed web instructions, and Experiment 2 contained six treatment groups designed to test the effects providing two token cash incentives and a special mail contact (i.e. Priority Mail). Tests include web vs. mail response rate and demographic comparisons, respondent demographic representativeness, and cost and time evaluations.
